Buzzing guitar? It may just need a simple adjustment of the truss rod, or the nut slots may need refinement. Perhaps a single high fret is the culprit. Greg can quickly diagnose the problem and give an estimate to correct it. Free assessments and estimates for every customer!
Personalized Approach and Service
Greg treats each customer – and their instrument – with care and respect, and can usually offer quick turnaround times for working musicians and worship leaders.
Fully Equipped and Humidified Shop
The shop, located northeast of Columbus about 30 minutes from Westerville, is fully equipped for all types of stringed instrument work. Whether your guitar needs a simple adjustment, a complete refret, a neck reset, or other in-depth work, Greg has the tools and experience to do it right. The shop is humidity and temperature controlled year-round to assure optimal conditions for your instrument while in our care.
Excellence and Experience
Studying with Bryan Galloup, Sam Guidry, Ian Devlin, and Trevor Gore has given Greg a deep understanding of acoustic and electric guitar construction and repair. From setting up inexpensive student guitars to full restorations of valuable instruments, Greg brings the same level of craftsmanship and dedication to excellence to each job, big or small. These are not just words- take a few minutes and read some of his customer reviews.
Setup and Repair Class
Want to learn how to work on your own guitars? Or maybe you want to earn some extra cash doing setups and repairs in your community. These classes, offered when it is convenient for you, will show you the right way to perform all manner of essential repairs and setup techniques. Once you learn and master these skills, you could be in demand as a guitar tech in your area. Don’t risk taking your guitars to a chain store tech… learn to do it yourself and save money and frustration. (Yes, I repair many instruments each year that somebody else messed up!)
Topics include basic and advanced setup techniques, fret dressing and re-fretting, bone nut and saddle making, basic soldering and wiring, and basic finish repair. Other class topics may be available occasionally, such as crack repairs, neck resetting, and bridge/ bridge plate repairs. Classes are scheduled based on Greg’s current workload and your schedule. Contact Greg at 614 348-2147 for details about scheduling class time. Please note: Classes are not pre-scheduled at specific times, I will schedule them when you are available.
Setup and Repair Class Rates
Classes are $60/hour with a four-hour minimum. We can work on your own guitars (preferred) or you can observe while I work on jobs currently in the shop. Of course, a combination of the above is also available.
Online Course
Greg has a detailed repair and setup course available online, hosted by Robbie O’Brien’s Lutherie Academy. Some lessons can be purchased individually, or you can buy the entire course of sixteen lessons. An affordable way to learn a great deal about repair, setup, and restoration techniques and methods.
